I woke up rather early this morning, around four-ish, and was pleased to hear the sound of rain. Nothing strong or dangerous, even though this is probably from a local typhoon that's skirting the island, but instead it's a slow, easy downpour. The air outside is crisp and cool, and laying here listening to the rain pound out a tune on the pipes outside is kind of nice.
I'm friends with rain. I have always loved it. In California a rainy day meant staying indoors in the classroom, playing board games or Head's Up Seven Up. It was a change of pace from the usual routine. You bundle up a little bit, get a little closer to people around you, talk a little more, relax a little more. It's nice.
I'm sure I'll have my problems with it a little later. Slippery tile outside the classrooms, stepping quick-paced through the gaps in the overhangs on the way to the office, but overall the rain leaves me a little melancholy today...and that's a nice change of pace.

I know how you feel! I like the rain too, but not too much of it.
...and don't forget the Texas thunderstorms. Ü Remember when Barbara W. had a friend make a tape of one and send it to her. She played it for us when we lived in CA.? The things we will do when we're homesick!
Lots and lots!
Mom
Stacy,
Friends with rain. I like that thought!
When we moved to CA from the Midwest, we really missed the rain, and when it did rain my wife made many memories by taking time out to play in it with our son.
Now, back in the Midwest...it's 18 degrees outside! Wanna trade? :]
It's funny. I don't like being rained upon, especially in cooler weather, but I love the rain. Especially when it's pouring buckets. Does that make me a hypocrite or what?
Here in so. CA, a rainy day STILL means staying indoors in the classroom! But I don't think they play Head's Up anymore ;-)
Hey, did you ever cheat at Head's Up and sneak a look at the kid's shoes as they went by you?!?! Sometimes they would be real tricky though and reach waaaay over to touch your thumb--then you couldn't see their shoes!
i always cheated at heads up seven up. cause its fun to catch people. i always caught people even if they were behind me because i looked into the table leg reflection to see their shoes. :>
